Katie and Bryan

Sheila told me that Katie and Bryan are willing to volunteer for my portfolio and I agreed to do theirs on the same day. They arrived at the location around 5 p.m. so we stayed at the same location for another hour or so. Bryan seemed a little uncomfortable in front of the camera at the beginning but toward the end of the session, he showed us his real modeling talent. It was my fault for not talking to Bryan more at the beginning. But overall, they turned out great.

We headed back to downtown before the sun completely set. There are a lot of beautiful backgrounds that we could use. Katie asked me that if I could include the water tower in the picture. “Sure. Not a problem”, I replied. Then we set up the lighting around the open field, measured the lights and this is what we have.

At the last location, I decided to do some Portraits. We picked the spot, set up the lightings, and “WoOoOoW”, “Who is that guy standing next to Katie? What did you do to our Bryan?”. Katie picked up theĀ  new refreshing vibe from Bryan and answered it by showing some of her own somethin’ somethin’ too. Thank you guys. It was a pleasure, great job.

Alyssa Gonzales

Alyssa was in a very good mood that night, she threw her two cents here and there when I was setting up my studio. It sounded like she was telling me what to do.

She seemed even more excited once I secured the background with the final pin so we sat her down on the ironing table.

Sheila and Randall At New Braunsfel

On Saturday Nov 1st, 2008, we went to New Braunfels to do our first engagement assignment. I felt a little nervous and excited at the same time. With given conditions, unfamiliar location, with harsh lighting at 2pm in the afternoon, so I decided not to beat the sun. Instead, I could use the sunlight as rim light whenever possible and fill the shadow with only the reflector. We arrived in downtown area then we began to scout the location. It’s a really beautiful place, there are plenty of buildings, cool walls, and some antique props; a vintage looking small little town. Here is a couple that turned out great:

Sheila suggested that we moved the another location, a park with trees, open grass, river bank, and peers. She typed in the address on my GPS then we left downtown. We stopped by Mac Donald to pick up some drinks and foods, I’ve been having cotton mouth all day. Then we let the GPS to guide us to the park.

When we arrived at the park, I was stunned. It was way more beautiful than what I had imagined. For this location, I refrained myself from using the strobes and stick with my reflector-only plan.

First time at Inn On The Riverwalk

Sheila and I agreed to meet up in downtown to do some fashion style pics. The location was behind the “Inn On The Riverwalk”. The view is really nice and quite, what a beautiful spot to do photoshoot. So we sat down for a little bit, then I explained what my goal is and what we were going to do for this session, then she took off to change. Five minutes later, she came back with the red dress on, oh man, she’s beautiful.

So I started to shoot a few by the river bank then a few more in the back of the offices.

While we were shooting, we discovered another good spot right behind the hotel, we packed all the gears, Sheila put on her black dress then we jumped over the fence. She’s so natural, I hardly have to instruct her on what to do.

At the end, we are really pleased with the results and both of us are struggling to pick the best ones.

Aaron and Christina

This is my experimental shots. I was trying to mix the sun light with ABR800 and didn’t have the remote control to trigger the strobe. The trigger was done with 580EX on camera with the help of aluminium foil to bounce the light into the sensor. It was PITA.

Strobist: A single ABR800, camera left and high, pointing down the subjects.

Shoes

Shoes were placed on the suede sofa.

Saturday afternoon with Brenda

I feel bad because Sofia came over to the house ON TIME but I wasn’t there. Brenda didn’t know my real name so when Sofia asked for me, she said that she hasn’t seen me for a while because Brenda thought Sofia was talking about the other Will. Supposedly Sofia called me, but my phone didn’t ring and I didn’t get any missed call from Sofia. Anyway, the Taco place was taking forever just to make simple breakfast meal for Aaron and I. I should have told Brenda that Sofia is coming over, but I thought I could make it back in time. It was a mess.

So Brenda kindly volunteered to take Sofia’s place, then we headed to Mike’s house. It took us about 2.5 hours.
